In Memory of Frank...

The stage lights that shine on the local live music community lost some of their glow Sunday, June 13th 2010, when Frank Hackney passed from this Earth. Frank was an owner at Rumple's Pub on North Main in Saint Charles, MO. Frank was also a father, a true friend, a mentor, a musician and a big contributor to the local live music scene.

A superb guitarist with a voice that was very easy to enjoy and appreciate, Frank performed in local groups and also sat in with many local musicians. It was always a joy listen to him as well as a pleasure and honor to play with him. Frank's musical contributions did not stop with his own playing. He supported many other musicians such as myself, as well as many of my friends, with his kindness and generosity by inviting us to play at Rumples Pub and share the stage and showcase he created. He also sponsored musical events that gave both veteran musicians and passionate amateurs the opportunity to play with each other and in front of audiences.

I enjoyed his smooth vocals, his guitar artistry, his humility, his smile and his sense of humor. It is sad to know those things are only memories now but they are memories I will keep and cherish. - Dennis
